Live for Music (lyrics)

Live for Music

Take center stage and lose it
show the world you live for music
Take your broken dreams and use it
show us you live for music

Vs. 1
you punched my face for the first time
you knocked me down so you think that I
am terrified but i'm not scared of you
i'll jump over your head to escape
i'll let the wind carry me away
to new blue skies

when rocks are pouring down like rain
i wanna be the one holding the flame
but a distant voice that knows my name
is flooding my soul
it says...

Chorus
take center stage and lose it
show the world you live for music
take your broken dreams and use it
show us you live for music
add up all your cuts and bruises
show the world you live for music
throw away your last excuses
show us you live for music

Vs. 2
these words come from the back of my mind
i promise i won't be satisfied
til i can sing them all directly to you
i'll sing it loud and i'll sing it clear
i'll overcome your longest fears
and shoot through mine

when words are knives you throw my way
i wanna be the one holding the flame
but every voice that knows my name
is flooding my soul

Chorus (repeated)

Bridge
with clouds between my knees
the stars are within my reach

Chorus (repeated)

I live for music
I live for music
I live for music

Search for young singers, dancers and musicians to feature as soloists!

The Live for Music Tour would like to find exceptional soloists for our high school concerts. We're looking for singers, dancers and musicians under the age of 18. For information on the Live for Music Tour, please visit our website.

We're looking for soloists to feature in our concerts, and we're still booking all the upcoming high school shows. We started a YouTube contest between schools simply because we were receiving too much demand and had to figure out a way to select the schools we visit. So here's what you could do to be a part of Live for Music:

1-Send us a YouTube video of you performing one of Shaun Barrowes' original songs. You'll find some of the other audition videos here.

2-Help one of your local high schools win a Live for Music Concert. Show this website to one of the teachers at the school (they can be in charge of any music ensemble at the school--choir, glee, drumline, jazz band, dance, etc.) and help them put together winning videos for the contest.

If you help your own high school win, you'll definitely have the chance to be featured as a soloist. Otherwise, you can take your chances and hope we book a school close to you. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Here's a video of the Maple Mountain High School Concert

Check out this video--it features many of the talented dancers from Maple Mountain high school:

...And I Dance Lyrics

…And I Dance

Vs. 1
Your words are all related
To the winds that pass me by
A beat has resonated
From the corners of my
Mind if I
Step outside
And jump back into me
‘Cause on my skin
And deep within
Is a burning melody

Chorus
…And I dance
Like I’m pushing through the crowded street
Cause I just gotta move my feet
…And I dance
Like I’m banging on an open door
To try to release the flow
…And I Dance
Like I need to fill the spaces with noise
Because without dance
What’s the point

Vs. 2
The road to me’s congested
I stand in my own line
It’s time for my confession
To the people I’m
Behind the wall
And above it all
Is a song that carries me
Back inside
My fragile mind
That strengthens to the beat

Final chorus:
…And I dance
Like I’m pushing through the crowded street
Cause I just gotta move my feet
…And I dance
Like I’m banging on an open door
To try to release the flow
…And I Dance
Like I never felt love before
And I’d find it beneath the floor
…And I Dance
Like I need to fill the spaces with noise
Because without dance
What’s the point

Do you know anyone in Utah or Portland, OR?

If these first high school shows are successful, my team and I will be doing them at hundreds of high schools around the country. This could essentially provide a huge chunk of annual funding to all high schools so we can keep music education alive. Please tell friends and family about this and help me support the music and arts programs at high schools around the country!

The first concerts are:
Sept. 8th-9th: Maple Mountain High School (Spanish Fork, UT). 7pm. Tickets are $10. Visit the high school website to buy tickets in advance (http://mmhs.nebo.edu)
Sept. 11th: Layton High School (Layton, UT). 7pm. Tickets are $10. Get tickets at the door or at the school.
Sept. 16th: Tualatin High School (Tualatin, OR). 7:30pm. Tickets are $5. Get tickets at the door or at the school.

For a list of all high schools currently booked for the Live for Music Tour, visit: www.liveformusictour.com

Thanks and we hope to see you at one of these awesome concerts!!
